How to Play Memory Match

Click any card to flip it face up and reveal the symbol underneath. Click a second card. If both symbols match, the pair stays face up and counts as a match. If they do not match, both cards flip back face down after a short pause. Keep going until all 8 pairs are matched. Your goal is to complete the board using as few moves as possible.

Tips to Improve Your Score

  • Scan the whole board slowly on your first few flips before committing to matches. Building a mental map early saves moves later.
  • When you reveal a symbol you have not seen before, note its position before flipping the second card.
  • Work from the edges inward so unmatched cards do not get visually "lost" in a sea of face-down cards.
  • If you remember where a match is, take it immediately rather than continuing to explore.

FAQ

What counts as one move?
Each time you flip a second card that completes an attempt counts as one move - whether or not it is a match. The theoretical minimum is 8 moves if you match every pair on the first try.
Is the layout random each game?
Yes. The 8 pairs are shuffled into a new random arrangement every time you start a new game, so the positions are never the same twice.
Is my best score saved?
Yes. Your best move count and best time are saved in your browser automatically. They persist between visits on the same device.
