How to Play Color Memory
Press Start and watch the buttons carefully. The game will highlight one or more buttons in sequence, each one accompanied by a distinct tone. After the sequence finishes, it is your turn: press the buttons in the same order the game showed you. If you match the sequence correctly, the next round adds one more step to the end. The game continues until you press a button in the wrong order.
Tips to Reach Higher Levels
- Use both colour and sound. Each button has its own tone, so listening while you watch creates two memory cues instead of one.
- Group the sequence into chunks of three or four when it gets long. Think "red-green-blue" as a unit rather than three separate steps.
- Say the colours aloud quietly as you repeat them. Verbal rehearsal is one of the most effective short-term memory strategies.
- Play in a quiet environment so the audio tones are audible and clear.

Does the speed increase as the game goes on?
Yes. After level 5, each button in the sequence lights up slightly faster. After level 10, the pace increases again. This makes higher levels significantly harder.

Yes. Your highest level reached is saved in your browser locally. It persists between visits on the same device.
Do the sounds work on mobile?
Yes. The tones are generated using the Web Audio API, which works on modern mobile browsers. On iOS, the first tap on Start activates the audio context so sounds play correctly from the first round.
